SMP For Scarring

Hide Scarring From Transplants

Scars are an inevitable by-product of hair transplant surgery, and a common reason for men to seek a scalp micropigmentation artist. Even with the best physician and the cleanest incision closures, there is simply no way to avoid the production of scar tissue. Over time as the hair continues to thin, and in some cases after multiple surgeries, these scars can cause a real problem, especially if the patient wants to shave their head at a later date.

Options to reduce the appearance of scars are somewhat limited. Some opt for scar revision surgery, utilizing modern techniques to improve the aesthetics of the healed scar, however it takes several months to see what improvement has been made, if any. Laser options are also available, but their effectiveness is limited.

Scalp micropigmentation is possibly the world’s most popular solution to this problem. By depositing tiny micro-dots of pigment into the scar tissue to replicate the appearance of shaven hair follicles, the visibility of the scar is reduced significantly, often by as much as 90%, enabling the client to live a happier, more confident life.

There are many different forms of hair restoration surgery, and therefore the scars we treat vary significantly from client to client. Most commonly we are asked to camouflage FUT (strip) scars, the linear scars across the back of the head that usually stretch from ear to ear, however we are seeing increasing demand for FUE (dot) scar camouflage too.

More specialized solutions are available for bearers of scalp reduction scars, neurosurgery scars and skin blemishes from head trauma, burns and birthmarks.

Every treatment plan is individual to the specific client. To discuss your needs in detail and to find out if you’re a suitable candidate for a scalp micropigmentation procedure, please contact us.
